Moms in the City

About Us

While pregnant with my first baby boy, I  scoured the internet support groups for single moms and women who were in similar situations. Upon looking I noticed that all the websites were somewhat depressing. How is reading something that's depressing make a depressed person better? It didn't. After having the baby all of my single, childless friends continued to hit the town and to live normal lives while I'd wake up every three hours to feed and change my son. But why should this be considered "being a mom"? We've  all had lives once before.

Though there are many different situations that can add to making motherhood tough, it is still a personal and beautiful experience that should be celebrated. With this in mind, I continued to search for a website where I could make new friendships with other moms in the city and to start doing things in my pre-baby life such as shopping and martinis, this time including my bundle of joy. When I couldn't find a website that could supply all the information I was looking for as a new mom, I created Moms In The City.

Why can't a mom still put on her heels and go to meet her girlfriends for lunch, but with her child in tow? Why should having children prevent moms from traveling? Of course being a mom is  tough but our duty is to be able to make things happen, so why not make it happen for ourselves?

Having a child isn't a hindrance, it's a privilege!

What is Moms in the City

Moms In The City is meant to unite moms together to share information, stories, children items and to create friendships. MITC will also help to keep moms in the know of mom friendly events that are going on in the city.

Photo Album section is meant to give moms a chance to "show off", if you will. We spent an intimate 9 months (more or less) with the baby that we brewed in our belly, gaining hundreds of pounds (or so it felt), having swollen rhino ankles and achy bones and limbs. Now we are going to spend the rest of our lives molding our kids into the person we've always dreamt we could be.  So why not share this little miracle of a person with the world? You can also send videos that be seen if your child does something that's specially worth everyone to see!

ToTs is to be an advantage to moms on many accounts. ToTs (Trash to Treasure) is meant to help by giving away items for free to a mom in need, to make a few bucks by  selling some items, by bartering pieces that you might have with another mom or by helping a mom who lists what she is in need of. The barter system isn't only for items. Ever have a hard time finding a babysitter? Well I did! This is a way to barter your time with another mom to watch your child.  Why shouldn't we be able to go out and enjoy ourselves with friends or go on a date? Barter time with another mom to watch your child on a Friday night and watch hers the next! the opportunity is yours to choose and it's meant to give us another chance to gain our lives back.

MITC network serves a multitude of functions. From the many different discussions to information  about other moms in different cities, it gives you a chance to be uplifted, learn and socialize. Here you can start topics of your own and have your voice heard by others or comment on discussions that you find interesting.

City Guide is meant to give all moms information about the selected city. The City Guide has notes on events, shows, birthdays that are found daily. This section is also meant to give information on things in the city that are child friendly, and if there are any new hot spots for moms to check out. Why should we be solely subjected to museums, zoos and parks? There are no signs that say "No shoes, no shirt, no kids, no service." so why shouldn't we enjoy everyday life like our friends or how we used to before we had kids? Now we just have different perks!

Enjoy!
